On July 18, 2022, at 5:00 o’clock p.m. (ET), the Franklin County Fire Coordinator held an initial organizational meeting at 34 Forbes Street, Apalachicola, Florida 32320, which is commonly known as the county commission meeting room.
The meeting provided information on the creation of a new volunteer fire department for the Lanark Village St James Fire and Rescue District, provided information to the public regarding the regulatory requirements for volunteer fire departments and volunteer firefighters, and gathered the names and contact information from those persons who are ready, able and willing to be considered as firefighters and administrators for the District; as well as to receive public comment from the community members of the District. A form was provided to those persons who are interested in participating in the new volunteer fire department.
On September 15, 2022 at 5:00 o’clock p.m. (ET) a follow up meeting was held at Chillas Hall in Lanark Village to continue the recruitment of volunteer firefighters and support staff.
The next meeting for volunteer firefighters and support staff is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. (ET) at the St. James – Lanark Village fire station located at 2367 Oak Street in Lanark Village.
