The Franklin County Board of County Commissioners is seeking volunteers to serve on the following advisory boards:
Local Technology Planning Team – District 1 Seat: This candidate should live within the boundaries of District 1 (St. George Island and part of Eastpoint), and represent either the education, library, health, business, public safety, tourism, or local internet service provider sector. This candidate will be part of a team that will create plans and seek funding to increase the availability of broadband internet service for all Franklin County residents. The LTPT meets quarterly.
Airport Operations Economic Development Board – Alternate Seat: This candidate should meet one of the following criteria: A resident of Franklin County and have some knowledge pertaining to the operations of municipal airports; or resides within 2 miles of the Apalachicola Airport; or a local business owner; or a client of the Airport/FBO; or have prior experience with industrial or economic development. The AOED meets monthly.
Byway Management Authority – County Representative Seat: The Byway Management Authority is an all-volunteer organization founded in 2002 to create the Big Bend Scenic Byway and consist of at least 35 institutional members of organizations, governments, agencies, and businesses along the Byway. The BMA meets quarterly and would like Franklin County representation on the Authority as they oversee the progress on implementing the Wayshowing and Interpretive Plan, while maintaining and promoting the Byway.
Regional Rural Transportation Plan Technical Advisory Committee – County Representative Seat: The Apalachee Regional Planning Council is seeking candidates to represent Franklin County on the Technical Advisory Committee “to review issues of importance related to the Rural Transportation Planning efforts and to make recommendations to the ARPC Board for their consideration.” Candidates with transportation planning experience are encouraged to volunteer to serve on this committee.
